According to multiple sources, the Yankees are zeroing in on JA Happ and a deal could be done as soon as Thursday.
Here’s an oddly worded tweet from Jon Heyman, writer for MLB Network

there are said to still be multiple teams in the bidding for jays. yanks have long been considered a favorite, but they seem unaware they are getting him, as of this moment. @StevePhillipsGM suggested they are in lead and there’s a focus on finalizing with yanks.
Yankees fans should love this deal if the rumors are true that the Jays have lowered their asking price for Happ. Despite Luis Cessa pitching well today (5.1 innings, 2 earned runs, 3 Ks, and no walks), Happ would be a clear upgrade for the rotation.
Sources tell the UpperDeckArmy that the Yankees would be giving up at the very least 1 of their top 10 prospects for the lefty rental (Acevado/Abreu-led package) plus a pitcher facing their offseason 40 man roster crunch. Happ currently holds a 10-6 record with a 4.18 era (3.84 FIP). He won his last start against the Twins Tuesday night day tossing 5 innings, giving up 1, and getting 9 strikeouts.
Contrast this possible acquisition with the Red Soxs’ today of RHP Nathan Eovaldi.
Happ: 4.18 ERA, 10.3 K/9, 1.3 HR/9
Eovaldi: 4.26 ERA, 8.4 K/9, 1.7 HR/9
The arms race is certainly heating up as we head towards the deadline. We will continue to monitor the situation
